The use of coal powered steam turbines during the Industrial Revolution is what brought about our modern industrial world. Nowadays we have lots of other fuels like oil and natural gas but coal was the first, and emits the most CO2.

The advent of the industrial revolution was the starting point of man-made global warming and climate change.

Before the industrial revolution coal and other fossil fuels were there but we didn’t know what to do with them. The industrial revolution gave us the machines like the steam engine which let us use the energy in the fuels to build more things in a better way. This improved our quality of life but now we need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels or climate change will make our quality of life decrease again.
