There are many different types all relating to different technologies. I’m a chemical engineer but examples of other types are mechanical, materials, electrical, electronic, civil, structural, biomedical, energy etc. There are many others I’m sure!

      The core engineering subjects were:
      Mechanical, Civil and Electrical engineering.
All other forms of engineering came up later and are usually a combination of these 3 types of engineering, with new concepts of their own.
Today there are at least 40 different branches of engineering. So you have a wide variety of subjects to chose from.
