Plastic 3D printers using Fused Deposition Modelling can print a part about 5 cm tall in a couple of hours. For metal 3D printers using metal powder, this might take a day for the same size because each layer is a lot smaller. There are many different types of 3D printing technologies though and they all take different amounts of time but currently, it can be quite slow to build something.
